Quincy City Council sent a Flock camera public hearing request to its Oversight Committee after dozens of residents demanded the city drop its automated license plate readers. Police Chief Kennedy told the council Quincy's roughly 50 ALPR cameras captured more than 704,000 plates in the past 30 days, but only 134 were searched, saying the department "does not use it to follow residents going about their daily lives." The council voted 9-0 to refer Councilor Yuen's hearing order to committee and separately voted 9-0 to freeze spending from the Chapter 92 Public Works Enhancement Fund on a Nickerson parking lot project pending a review of a 2004 reporting requirement. The council also found no Open Meeting Law violations in two complaints stemming from a chaotic June 22 meeting, and voted to name a Brill Field hockey rink after longtime House Neck volunteer David "Andy" DeBona.
