Select Board · Meeting of October 5, 2026
QUINCY — The Quincy City Council voted to direct $136,000 in restitution from the Thomas Clasby theft case into a dedicated Council on Aging gift account rather than the general fund. Councilor Richard Jacobs brought the order, amended by Councilor Hubley to use the revolving gift account under state law, and it passed on a roll call vote. Separately, the council's Ordinance Committee, chaired by Councilor McKee, began a data-driven process to reset mayoral and council salaries after rescinding 2024-2025 raises in June, aiming to gather comparable-city data by October 19 and discuss analysis November 23.
Councilor Susan Yuen's ordinance requiring an annual five-year capital improvement plan was referred to committee, with Yuen warning the city is "driving 60 miles an hour without a map" on its nearly $2 billion debt. Resident Bill Zamzo urged a mayoral raise "between $183,000 and $225,000."
