QUINCY — The Quincy License Board approved common victualer and entertainment licenses for Sousy Corp's Glendale Club despite neighbor pushback. Attorney Edward Fleming said the licenses let outside caterers, not the Sousis, use the former Neighborhood Club's kitchen for private events like weddings, preserving the property's nonconforming status dating to 1917. Abutter Betsy Dougherty warned some event bookers "are maybe the kind that you wouldn't want in your neighborhood," while 40-year resident Will Smith said the parking lot "is being overtaken by weeds and grass." Owner Robert Sousy Jr. said a cleanup crew and street sweeper were being brought in and pledged, "We will stay on it." The board also approved eight other routine license requests, including an all-alcohol license for the new restaurant Junie on Hancock Street.
